Bernt Rygg was born Stavanger and it was here he got involved in the salsa scene. Bernt was one of the key persons behind the development of salsa in Stavanger and he become a driving force behind SalsaNor, one of the most successful salsa schools/organization in Norway. He eventually moved to Oslo, where he now teaches salsa at Danseglede. Bernt specializes in rueda and is perhaps the most popular and acclaimed rueda instructor in Norway. During the last 5 years Bernt has been teaching at different congresses in Norway and abroad. He has been central to the development of the Norwegian Rueda Standard. Alexis is a dancer, choreographer, instructor and percussionist. He is a multitalented artist with a lot of passion, and he created the concept of «Alexistyle». Alexis started out his dancing carreer in Antigua, Guatemala at the age of 13. In 1999 he travelled to Cuba to learn other styles of latin dances. He received a diploma as a specialist of Afro-Cuban dance at «Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba”. Alexis has also studied African dance, step dance, flamenco, cha-cha-cha, mambo, salsa, jazz, hip-hop, funk and house.
In 2000 he emigrated to Japan and started his own dance school with more than 1000 students throughout the country. He was also the first solo salsa dancer, and is recognised for his original shows ans creative style. In Japan he articipated in numerous TV shows, radio interviews, magazines and newspapers. He has also participated at many international events and salsa congresses with his shows. After more than 10 years of travelling he has finally moved to Oslo, Norway where he works as an instructor in Oslo & Drammen.
Fabian Vallejos was born in Argentina and grew up in Bolivia. On September 2007 he and his dance partner won the Scandinavian classification to the World Salsa Competition in Orlando Florida USA.There they finished in 12th place out of 36th dancers couples. During the years his has been teaching and performing at different congresses all around the world. Fabian is now running his own dance school in Gothenburg, one of the most renown schools in Sweden. Here he is teaching LA style, bachata, cuban style and west coast swing. Fabian is known to create great energy in his classes and he is very socialable person, both inside and outside the classroom. Greg Martin, one of the scandinavian pioneers of kizomba started dancing kizomba in 2009 and began the first kizomba school in Sweden in 2011. A veteran in dance teaching, he developed his unique kizomba style from his early days learning from the original kizomba masters in Lisbon. He teaches internationally every month and has been featured in some of the worlds most prominant kIzomba festivals, such as Paris Kizomba Festival, Scandinavian Salsa, Berlin Bachata, AfroLatin Flow, Shanghai, Borocay, San Francsco, Dominican, Croatia and several other locations. His lead style balances the traditional feel of kizomba with complex steps while maintaining ultimate connection with his partner. He is representing Sweden at AfricaDancar in 2015. His classes are fun, challenging and always give strong technique for improving ones social dance.
Iris Reder is a professional dancer who graduated from The Norwegian College of Dance in 2014, with a bachelor degree in dance and pedagogy. She majored in jazz dance, but also studied other techniques such as ballet and modern dance. Iris has experience from teaching ballet, musical, show jazz, lyrical jazz, latin jazz, street dance, salsa all levels, lady styling and bachata. She started working, teaching and performing with Jazzy Ruiz in March 2014. She had her international debut show at Hamburg Salsa festival 2014. In her profession as a dancer, Iris values musicality, a strong technical base and an artistic expression that reflects her sharpness, elegance and versatility. Today Iris is working at Salsa Kompaniet in Oslo, teaching lady styling, salsa and bachata.
Jazzy started his dance career at the age of 5 at his parents’ dance school in Antigua, Guatemala. He received a broad dance education in jazz, contemporary dance, ballet, break dance, hip hop, Latin jazz, flamenco and other Latin dances such as salsa, mambo, Afro-Cuban and show dance.
Inspired by his artistic heritage, he began his work as an instructor at the age of 15 at his family’s dance school, and also at cultural centers and events. After leaving Guatemala, Jazzy continued his education at «Den Norske Ballethøyskolen» in Oslo and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Performing Arts and Pedagogy. During his studies he went to Cuba where he studied ballet, contemporary and Afro Cuban dances at “Ballet Nacional de Cuba of Alicia Alonso”.
He started his international career as a professional dancer and instructor in 2001, when he was touring Europe, among other places,as a representative for Norway. He started his own dance school in 2002. Jazzy has participated in various TV shows like «So you think you can dance ?» and as a choreographer in «Skal vi danse?» on TV2.
Maria Torres was born in Habana, Cuba. She started dancing a early age and soon decided to dedicate her life to dance. In 2000 she graduated from the Academy of Dance Tropicana Bailarina of ‘Habana. She studied ballet, modern, contemporary, Cuban folklore, Spanish dance. After graduation as a dancer, she continued her artistic career as a dancer in the corps de ballet of Tropicana Cabaret Show and the Macumba in Havana. Arrived in Italy in 2002 and became part of the dance troupe Show Restaurant «EL NIÑO DE FUEGO» of Numana. She has worked with various schools. Since 2006 she has been invited to the biggest shows and events throughout Europe, involved as teacher and artist. Now she perform and give classes together with Wilmer and the two of them are among the most popular Cubans artists.
Nicolina Donvin is an instructor and choreographer. Nicolina represented Sweden in the European Bachata championship in December 2012 and she finished 6 of 16 couples with her dance partner Fabian. Now she is travelling the world sharing her knowledge and love for dance together with Fabian. They are booked for most weekends of the year and for the biggest dance events in the world. She danced several styles such as belly dance, salsa, bachata, kizomba, reggaeton, WCS and more. She is not only teaching and performing but have also judge many competitions, such as the Scandinavian Bachata Championship, Timbachata Championship Gran Canaria, Bachatart Championship of Sweden and Bachatastars Sweden. Her student group won the Swedish Championship in 2016, doing on of her choreography.
Wilmer Najarro Mora
Wilmer Najarro Mora was born in Habana, the charming capital, where the great historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the Cuban people finds its highest expression. In 2000 Wilmer obtained a Diploma Bailerin Professor at the ENA (Escuela Nacional de Arte de l ‘Habana), specializing in Cuban Folklore. Subjects studied: Rumba and Afro (Guaguancò, Yambu and columbia), Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Spanish Dance. During his studies he joined the Body of Dance DANCE COMPANY OF THE CUBAN TV. He then continued his artistic experience in the corps de ballet of the MACUMBA SHOW DE LA HABANA and body dance Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba. Wilmer has had great success after moving to Europe and together with his dance partner Maria er the «hottest» Cuban couple out there. If you like Cuban style, do not miss their classes.
Yuliet Estrada was born and raised in Havana where dancing was a part of her life from childhood .The Conjunto Folclórico de la Universidad de La Habana gave her the chance to develop as a dancer. Since then she has participated in festivals, shows and competitions, in Cuba as well as internationally. Today she is working as a dance instructor and choreographer at different salsa schools in Oslo. Yuliet is teaching both traditional and modern dances from Cuba. Her students particularly appreciate her ability convey the distinctive Cuban style of dancing, together with her obvious joy of teaching.
Theodore Wolashie Awadzi aka Theo is the founder of KizombaTk a branch of Dancation Dance UK. He is both the IDO UK kizomba Champion for 2012 as well as the UKA salsa champion 2012 which was held in Bolton. Born in the West African Country of Ghana, Theo has come from a background of dance and choreography. Theo’s dancing and teaching has earned him fame and recognition across the UK and abroad. His excellent teaching style has resulted in him travelling all around the UK as well as Europe teaching and carrying out workshops. He has an extensive background of teaching semba, kuduru, kizomba, azonto as well as may Latin forms of dance . His unique teaching style is always full of fun and energy. His teaching technique is fun based concentrating on footwork and then steadily progressing into the body motion, partner work and styling for both partners. Dancing is his way of Life and this is evident in his classes as everyone leaves with a feeling of self-accomplishment.
Tania Machin Röyhkiö
Tania was born in Canary Island and spent her childhood surrounded by African and Latin music and dance. Her dance background includes intensive training and performing in flamenco, salsa, bachata, reggaeton, afro Cuban and African dances. After moving to Helsinki she got involved in the Finish Latin and kizomba scene. Fucusing on kizomba she teamed up with Greg Martin and they began travelling the world dancing kizomba. Lately Tania has taught kizomba and ladies body movement internationally at several kizomba and salsa events throughout Europe, America and Asia. In her classes she manage to make the difficult part became easy and improving the dance technique of her students.
Alain Morales was born in Havana, Cuba, and is a fantastic dancer and instructor. In 2000 he arrived to Europe with the group Iré Batà. He lives in Italy, but from 2007 until 2011 he was working in the Scandinavian countries. Alain is one of the best rumberos in Europe and his Colombia-shows are spectacular. In Cuba he was a dancer in the Compañía de Danza Contemporánea de Narciso Medina. Their show «Nacimiento de Chango» was a huge success on their European tour. In the movie «Street Dance 2″ Alain had a role as salsa dancer and for two years he was part of famous group «Clave Negra» of the maestro Alberto Valdes. Nowdays he is working in one of the most important cities in Italy and his solo dances are very appreciated at international congress in Europe. Alain teaches Cuban salsa, son, rumba, Afro Cuba, contemporary afro, jazz. At Nordic Salsa Experience he will teach four classes and also perform his two newest shows «Dream come true» and «Mi Malecon».
Arcadia has been dancing since the age of 7. With many years of experience as a dancer, choreographer and teacher Arcadia has developed her own style as well as an ability to give her students the development they need. When Arcadia was 15 years old she started and 3 year dance education where she got the opportunity to learn a broad variation of dance styles. That included jazz, funk, modern, ballet and many other styles. At the same time she was part of many Afro-Caribbean dance groups. Arcadia has been a stage dancer for some of the most renowned Latin American artists such as Grupo Niche, Charanga Habanera, Oscar de Leon, Gondwana, Fulanito, Americo, Dj Mendez, Ikiz and many more. She has appeared on many Swedish television shows and music videos. Arcadia has taught at Salsaakademin, Danscenter, Stockholm Salsa Dance and other dance schools in Sweden. Today she is working together with Konstantin sharing her passion for Latin dance worldwide. Her specialty lies in body movement and mixture of Afro-Caribbean styles with Mambo and Salsa. Arcadia has had the privilege to teach and perform in countries such as USA, Russia, Spain, Germany, Norway, Denmark and share the stage with some of the best international dancers. Her dedication and passion is clearly visible both in classes and on stage.
Konstantin started his dancers life at an early age. At the age of 4 his parents signed him up into a dance academy in Russia were he trained classical and folk-dance for 10 years. There, he got the possibility to grow as a dancer and travel to many parts of Europe with his ensemble. During 2003 Konstantin moved to Sweden and continued his dancing journey in a 3 year dance education in Stockholm. He is trained in jazz, modern and ballet among others. He stared his Latin dance the experience in tango world in 2005 but it was not until several years later that he discovered his passion for salsa and mambo. He has taught and danced together with Stockholm Salsa Dance, the oldest and biggest dance school in Sweden, since 2009. Together with the company he has traveled the world and studied with some of the most renowned dance teachers in the salsa scene. His biggest passion is mambo also called New York style salsa. Konstantin owns an official Nelson Flores certificate for teaching mambo/New York style. Today he is working with his dance partner Arcadia Astorga traveling the world. Konstantin is one of the main representatives of the mambo and salsa community in Scandinavia. He has taught and performed in countries such as USA, Russia, Spain, Germany, Norway, Denmark and many more. At his lessons Konstantin treasures pedagogy and good teaching methods. A lot of focus is aimed towards good leading and following to be able to handle the different situations on the dance floor, as well as developing your own style and improvisation.
Jose “La Salsa” Diaz, began his dancing career in 2006 under the direct supervision of Osmar Perrones, director of Yamulee Dance Company. He trained diligently and in August 2006 he did his first performance with Bajari de Yamulee. A year and a half later Osmar invited Jose to become part of Yamulee’s professional team. Jose debut as a member of the professional team at the 2008 Salsa Congress in Munich, Germany. He has traveled both Nationally and International performing with Yamulee Dance Company and has participated and assisted in teaching workshops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Las Vegas, Montreal, Toronto, Sweden, Holland, London, England, Milano, France, Chile, Peru, Zurich, Venezuela andh Spain just to name a few. When not traveling he served as an instructor at Yamulee Dance Studio as well as dance instructor at a local Elementary school in the Bronx. Jose launched his professional solo dance career in December 2011 and has teamed up with Nerea Perez of Milan Italy to begin the next phase and journey in his salsa endeavors.
Nerea Perez Rincon born in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz, Spain). With only five years, she starts to receive classes of flamenco for seven years. A year later she started in hip hop, first as a student and later as a teacher. In 2006 she began to receive salsa lessons from the hand of Pepe Sierra. In 2007 she is part of a group called Pura Salsa from Cadiz, and a year later started in the group Dancing Dragons that in September 2008 the won the competition Salsa Open Groups. A month later she moved to Valencia to live and begins to dance with Ivan Ortega. In 2009 she meets Papa Rumba and becomes part of his company. They interpreted various styles among which are: Afro, rumba, hip-hop, jazz and salsa. In September 2009 she started dancing with Luis Chavez, in December 2009 they are finalists for the USA World Salsa Championship. After the competition she went to live to Helsinki for five months. She worked together Mikko Kemppe in the HSA Salsa Academy. Now she lives in Milano and works in Latin Gem and she dances in Euphoria Dance Company and dancing couple with Jose Diaz.
Aliochy Aragon was born in Cuba and grew up in the city of Cienfuegos, where dance was a major part of his childhood. Aliochy started up dancing in the streets and took courses in salsa, African and Cuban art. he then started a salsa company, with friends. They danced and competed different places in Cuba.
Aliochy had great ambitions for the dance and wanted more. He became a member of a professional dance company called «Wilfred Figueredo», where he worked as the lead performer for three years. The style they danced in the company was «Cabaret». Cabaret is composed of salsa. African, jazz, modern, ballet and hip hop, mixed together to create an amazing shows. In 2010 Aliochy moved to Norway. Here he has worked as an instructor, choreographer and dancer in various festivals, performances and events. He is also a dancer in the largest African-Caribbean company in Scandinavia; Tabanka Crew. They have done several performances at the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, TV programs and performances abroad. Tabanka Crew dances reggae, dance-hall and several different African styles. Today he studies bachelor in dance and pedagogy at Norway Dance College and is the main instructor in Cuban salsa at Salsakompaniet.
The dancer Lisa Ash recently moved from Barcelona to Oslo. In Barcelona she has worked as a dancer and instructor over the past two years. Previously she had a long career in dance in both Europe and Cuba. Lisa has a major in African-Cuban and rumba and has danced in several dance companies, including Salsera in Sweden, Latin Angeles Barcelona, Salsa del Barrio Barcelona and finally she danced Afro-contemporary dances for Rogelio Lorda in Barcelona. Today Lisa is teaching at SalsaNor in Oslo and doing weekend festivals with her Cuban dance partner Danniel Rodriguez.
Katrin Lerner is from Germany. She started her dance education at the State Ballet school in Berlin. During her further development as a dancer, she continued her studies at the Palucca Hochschule für Tanz in Dresden, where she graduated as a stage dancer in classical ballet and modern dance. While studying, she discovered Latin music, especially salsa music, and developed a great passion for it.
Out of her diverse background, she developed a characteristic personality on stage, with a certain way of telling a story; she shows her spirit in dance. In recent years, she has been working alongside her dance-partner Alexis Ruiz. Known as „Alexistyle“, he is a very well-known dancer and instructor. She is also a member of one of the most the renowned Latin dance group worldwide, Adolfo Indacochea’s ‘’The Latin Soul dancers“. As a teacher, Katrin emphasizes music and the individual’s feelings. While teaching lady-styling, her focus senses the participants own femininity, conveying a combination of natural movement sequences that confront the aesthetics of femininity.
Luis Vazquez began dancing Salsa in 1992. He was inspired by many movies such as “Lolita’s Way” and the movie “Salsa” but his true inspiration came from his older brother Francisco Vazquez. Francisco introduced him to Salsa in 1992 when Francisco was learning the first salsa steps. Luis and his brothers are considered to be the pioneers of the LA Salsa Style on1. Since then, Luis co-created Salsa Brava Productions, the first ever dance company in Los Angeles and one of the most well known dance companies in the world. In 1994, Salsa Brava dissolves and he began dancing with Melissa Fernandez together creating “Mas Salsa Brava”. Luis’s salsa dance style continues to inspire people to reach and exceed their boundaries. His aura, personality and vibrant energy is tremendously contagious. His creativity in music, costumes, routines and stunts has taken showmanship to the next level. Luis Vazquez is known world wide for having one of the best dance leads and is definitely a Super Social Dancer at the Night Clubs! His instructional dance workshops with Melissa Fernandez are known to be one of the funniest and always jammed packed. Today Luis is living Malmø, Sweden, where he has established his own dance school.
Daniel comes from Havana, Cuba. He started dancing at his mothers dance school at the age of five and then continued his dance education at Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana. Moving to Europe, he ended up in Barcelona where he is running his own dance school. Daniel has become a popular instructor at festivals around Europe. In his classes you will get a clear understanding of the techniques that is needed to improve you dance skills and how to implement them in your social dancing. At the festival he will teach together with his dance partner Lisa Ask.
Alex Alberola was born in Barcelona, Spain. He is the founder and director of Ballroom Salsa Dance Company since late 2010. In the beginning it was originated as a salsa on1 dance company mixed with ballroom dance, later specializing in bachatango and sensual bachata. Alex has previously dance background as a dancer, trainer and instructor of ballroom dance for many years. During his training as dancer, Alex has received lessons from the most prestigious dancers all around Europe and he has been dancer of the Adrian and Anita Amateur Dance Company and Acento Latino. Today He is travelling around the world at different bachata festival, teaching and giving shows. Alex is know to create a nice atmosphere in his classes, but at the same time keeping the quality of the teaching.
Laura Rubia was born in Barcelona, Spain. She started her dance life already as a young girl. Later on she starts working and dancing for Ballroom Salsa Dance Company since late 2013. Laura has dancing background in many areas such as: classic, jazz, funky, contemporary, flamenco and salsa. She has been a dancer for Adrián and Anita Amateur Dance Company, among other musical companies. She has also been dancing for several artists in TV. Due to her diversified dance background, she has developed an unique style that are very much appreciated among her students.
